The carbon standards are quality labels certifying that the carbon credits from the offset projects respect environmental or social criteria. Each standard sets its own requirements and the guaranteed criteria are wide-ranging. The standards with the most demanding requirements are: Gold Standard and Verified Carbon Standard.
